Median’s Klinik Grünheide, which opened in 1994, was the first rehabilitation hospital in the German state of Brandenburg to focus on patients with severe damage to the central and peripheral nervous system. Today, this unique and brightly designed 240-bed facility offers special forms of therapy, from early rehabilitation to follow-up treatment, to patients facing challenges from strokes, brain and spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, epilepsy and other congenital disorders or abnormalities of the nervous system.
Klinik Grünheide is a partner of the Berlin Stroke Alliance, an association of more than 30 partners in the Berlin area that strives to coordinate and improve the care of stroke patients. The hospital also treats patients with neurological and neurosurgical diseases that require ventilator support in a 16-bed ventilator and ventilator weaning station, and assists those who need to remain on a ventilator at home after discharge.
Patients reside in cozy single rooms with private bathrooms and a host of personal amenities, and can participate in creative activities such as silk painting, pottery, weaving, braiding and woodworking. Klinik Grünheide’s idyllic location along the shores of Lake Werl enables patients to enjoy fresh air and beautiful views in any season of the year along pathways that are wheelchair accessible.
