Fairmont Regional Medical Center is private community hospital with a heritage of more than 100 years of service to Marion County and the surrounding area. Founded in 1901 by Dr. John R. Cook, the company doctor for two mining companies, the hospital moved to a new location and a new facility in the late 1930s with a new name – Fairmont General Hospital.

Additions, expansions and renovations at least every decade since then have resulted in the modern 207-bed acute care facility, which today is known as Fairmont Regional Medical Center.

With a staff of more than 700 physicians, nurses and support personnel, Fairmont Regional continues to provide the community exceptional medical services and compassionate care.

The medical center is part of Alecto Healthcare Services, a healthcare system founded in 2012 with a commitment to integrity and innovation. Alecto’s mission is to preserve community hospitals and improve healthcare infrastructure, one hospital at a time.
