Saint John Hospital, the first private hospital in the State of Kansas, was opened by the Sisters of Charity in 1864 and has continued to provide health care services to Leavenworth and nearby Lansing for 150 years.

Now affiliated with Prime Healthcare Services, Saint John continues its community mission as a 76-bed general medical and surgical hospital providing 24-hour emergency services, cardiac care, women’s care, rehabilitation care, pain management and senior behavioral heath services, as well as ambulatory care – including two outpatient surgery suites and outpatient lab services, endoscopy tests and blood transfusions.

Saint John is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, the nation’s oldest and largest hospital accreditation agency, and received the Joint Commission’s 2012 Gold Seal of Approval.

The hospital is operated by Prime Healthcare Services, one of the largest for-profit hospital companies in the nation, which was recognized by Truven Health Analytics (formerly part of Thomason Reuters) as one of the "15 Top Health Systems in the Nation" in 2012 and 2013, based on quality of healthcare and patient satisfaction.
