Serving the residents of Inglewood and surrounding areas since 1924, Centinela Hospital Medical Center is a 369-bed acute care facility that was acquired by Prime Healthcare Services, headquartered in Ontario, California, in 2007. Since that time, Prime Healthcare has infused more than $33 million in infrastructure improvements, including information systems, equipment upgrades and facility upgrades. These have had a dramatic impact on the level of care provided by the hospital, which was recently named one of the nation’s Top 100 Hospitals for 2012 and 2013 by Turven Health Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters). Prime was recognized by Truven Health Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters) as one of the “15 Top Health Systems in the Nation” based on quality of healthcare and patient satisfaction.  Eight Prime Hospitals were ranked among the “100 Top Hospitals in the Nation” in 2013. Prime owns and/or operates acute care hospitals in California, Nevada, Texas and Pennsylvania, employing more than 20,000 people.

Centinela Hospital offers a level II emergency department, orthopedic care, advanced cardiac services, peripheral artery disease treatment and OB/GYN services in a caring environment. It is actively involved in improving the health of the community with programs designed to meet the needs of those that it serves.

The hospital has been awarded full accreditation from the Joint Commission – the nation’s leading healthcare rating organization – and earned their coveted Gold Seal of Approval™.

Now underway is a seismic retrofit project that will exceed all State of California earthquake codes, including drilling new “Tubex” piles 50 to 60 feet deep that will be filled with concrete and then connected by shear walls to the main hospital.  At the same time, the emergency department is being expanded to 60 beds and remodeled to better handle the more than 60,000 patients who come through its doors each year.

Centinela Hospital has also been ranked one of the best hospitals in the Los Angeles metro area according to the U.S. News & World Report's first-ever "Best Regional Hospitals" rankings. These rankings recognize hospitals in or near major cities that have achieved a record of high performance in key medical specialties. Centinela Hospital received high-performance scores for its neurology, neurosurgery and orthopedics programs.

Centinela is also home to the Tommy Lasorda Heart Institute, a renowned cardiac program with a multidisciplinary team of board certified clinicians utilizing the latest proven protocols for rapid response to heart attacks.
